This exceptional Japanese Cinerama ticket stub commemorates the "Triumphant Return" engagement (March 1–28, 1969 / Showa 44) of Stanley Kubrick’s seminal 1968 masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey (2001年宇宙の旅). Issued by MGM Pictures for nationwide distribution in Japan, this standardized advance ticket highlights the film’s top-10 critical accolades from 1968, the original ¥350 admission price, and its presentation in the premium Cinerama format. Engineered specifically for 70mm projection on expansive curved screens with multi-channel magnetic stereo sound, Cinerama provided the definitive roadshow experience of the era at premier Japanese venues, including Theatre Tokyo and Osaka’s OS Cinerama Theater. What truly distinguishes this item is its extraordinary state of preservation.
